CCU chapter of Beta Alpha Psi granted Superior Chapter status
The Lambda Kappa Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi at Coastal Carolina University was granted Superior Chapter status by the Beta Alpha Psi Board of Directors. Superior chapter recipients will receive a $500 award courtesy of KPMG and the KPMG Foundation. The faculty advisers for CCU's chapter of Beta Alpha Psi are Philip Njoroge, Ph.D., assistant professor of accounting, and Sheila Mitchell, lecturer of accounting. There are 30 CCU students in the chapter.

Department of Theatre to Present Working
Working is a musical that tells "the story of everyman and everywoman out there today!" explained William Mutimer, guest director of the November 14-18 production by East Stroudsburg University's Theatre Department. Based on the best-selling oral history by Studs Terkel, the book's subtitle, People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do, describes the focus of the musical which paints a fascinating picture of the core human truths that transcend professions.

Newly established Honors College at CCU has more than 700 students
The HTC Honors College and Center for Interdisciplinary Studies was established at Coastal Carolina University on Oct. 12, and the 700 students who had been accepted into the University's honors program are now the first students housed in the new college. The HTC Honors College and Center for Interdisciplinary Studies will feature many new initiatives and a revised curriculum. It will support students who have ties to majors and departments across campus: from honors students to interdisciplinary studies students, who build their own, innovative academic majors. In addition, the college will continue to support and advise undeclared first-year students as they select and transition into their major.

University of Vermont Upperclassmen Lead Over 250 Students on TREK
On Saturday August 18th, 2018 74 upper class students led over 250 first-year UVM students as they began their University of Vermont experience through TREK, a unique, 7-day first year enrichment program sponsored by UVM's Department of Student Life. For 39 years, UVM's TREK program has sent new students all over the state of Vermont to explore the region's wilderness, develop leadership skills, and work on community service projects. TREK is one of the biggest and most diverse new-student, collegiate, community building programs in the northeast region. Known as TREK leaders, these students provided and maintained a safe, healthy and supportive group atmosphere for their student participants while exploring the expansive outdoor environments of northern Vermont and it's neighboring states through both Wilderness and Service TREK programs.
